Technical Specialist Gold Room

Reporting to the Metallurgy Superintendent. The primary role of the Technical Specialist Gold Room Supervisor is to provide guidance and assistance for the Senior Gold Room Supervisor to plan and coordinate the gold room operations to achieve maximum production, development training packages, standard operating procedure and ensure operators are adequately trained in the use of equipment to maximize utilization.

Responsibilities:

General

• Health, Safety and Environment (10%)
  
  • 0 LTI’s.
  • 0 Fatalities.
  • Minimum of 4 hazard reports per month.
  • Minimum of 1 Planned task observation per month.
  • Minimum of 1 Safe act observation per month.
  • Minimum of 1 Workplace Inspection per month.
  • Lead the gold room team in becoming increasingly compliant with site and corporate safety and environmental controls and regulations.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring safety and environmental standards are adhered to
• Gold Room Operations (40%)
  
  • Supervise and provide assistance in daily gold room operational duties to meet performance targets
  • Operate in such a way that operators learn by example to develop an attitude conducive to team cooperation and development.
  • Ensure the required record keeping is accurate. Liaise with operations, metallurgist, security personnel to ensure the safety and security of the company's product.
  • Improve gold room performance and efficiency.
  • Review process conditions; provide support and advice to achieve maximum gold loadings on carbon.
  • Ensure the team is trained and adheres to the Gold Room operating procedures (plant, gold room, security), processes and systems.
  • Ensure gold room inventory and consumable is sufficient. Monitor reagent consumption and equipment usage.
  • Ensure all PPE required by the team is sufficient and met the safety and environment standards. Raise pick ticket for any PPE required in the gold room.
  • Coordinate with maintenance team regarding PM program in gold room. Raise work requests for all maintenance tasks, prior to for planned work and post work for breakdowns.

• Support to Plant Operations (20%)

• Provide assistance in the operation of the process where required.
• Review process conditions; provide support and advice to achieve maximum gold loadings on carbon.
• Continuous support for process operation team to ensure that plant is cleaned through the shift and is in a safe clean state to hand over by the end of each shift.
• Ensures the process operates at a high level of technical performance.
• Training and development (20%)
  
  • Deliver theory and practical based training programs.
  • Manage the development and update skill’s matrix for gold room operator
  • Develop standard operating procedures. Manage the development and writing of procedures for the operation of the treatment plant and related services.
  • Continually assess and monitor performance against task/duty requirements
• Optimization of the Process Plant Performance (10%)
  
  • Continue to investigate opportunities for process improvement. Provide input regarding
  • Initiate and Implement cost reduction program.

Requirements:

• Minimum Diploma or Trade qualified in Metallurgical, Mineral Processing or similar
• Minimum 8 Years’ Experience in Mineral Processing production with significant exposure to gold operations and management experience. 
• Previous gold room senior supervisory experience.
• Previous experience in complex gold plant operations including those with high values of copper, silver in feed and associated detoxification circuit concerns.
• Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and build effective relationships and networks.
• Possess strong training and mentoring skills.
• Demonstrate strong conceptual skills, and be capable of developing lateral and practical solutions.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at the same time.
